SEVERNE 2023 WAVE AND FREESTYLE EQUIPMENT
Severne have just launched their new 2023 range of wave and freestyle equipment! Check out all the details below, which include an exciting new Aysmmetric wave board and their innovating Gradient Panel and CarbonFusion sail technology:
Severne say: “023 is here. The verdict from the Severne team is clear; this new season sees big leaps forward in construction and performance.
All SEVERNE wave sails now boast the Load-Path experience gained during the HyperSpider project and later exploration of CarbonFusion technology. The outcome is an intelligent sailcloth usage that not only controls the stretch but harnesses elasticity to make sails that react and respond like a coiled spring. Sails that feel alive.
But there is much more.”

REFINED PERFORMANCE.
This new season sees big leaps forward in construction.
By integrating the reinforcing layers into the panel layout, loads transfer out of the corners and throughout the body of the sail. The tapered overlapping seams double and then triple material thickness as they reach the tack, clew, and head. We call this GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY.
Another year of CarbonFusion manufacturing experience to improve production efficiency has increased capacity. We are now able to use this construction for the Blade Pro
Adding GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY into the mix means both the Blade and Blade Pro can use the same production patterns. Same for the S-1 and S-1 Pro.
Differentiation between the two constructions is now easier. The carbon construction is lighter, more stable, and has a wider wind range. The standard construction is about 150g heavier depending on size and is lower cost. Both constructions are now offered in ALL sizes.
With the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY improvements are obvious. Lighter weight and better stability.
Using the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY. Corners have overlapped panels which reduces the amount of patching. At the same time these overlapped areas extend into the body of the sail so it transitions the load much better, will be less stretch over time. It’s a more stable way of building sails.
The GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY logically reduces weight, increases strength and controls stretch. Overall weight is reduced but the more significant improvement is the feel – quicker reacting and lighter feel.
Rather than a single curved luff panel, we use separate panels – split luff – that radiate out of the head and tack corners. This perfectly aligns the sail material with the direction of load.
Previously the curved panel would have bias stretch in all the wrong places. Direct transmission of power. Increased longevity.
STONE ASYMMETRIC WAVE
Designed in collaboration with Jaeger Stone and Stone Surf, the “Stone” is the outcome of a design objective aimed at building Jaeger’s favourite board from a user friendly approach.
The Stone features a finer and longer rail on the bottom turn side to cut through chop and allow deeper grip at top speed. The top turn rail is shortened by removing the swallow, creating an ‘S’ tail which assists a ‘snappier’ top turn allowing for the tail to sink easier.

FOILSTYLE REBORN // FOIL FREEK FOILSTYLE
The new FoilFreek is higher aspect to minimize any fore-aft movement of the power in the sail, keeping it balanced directly above the foil. Taller sails provide more leverage, improving the light wind efficiency. And the longer, stiffer masts enable increased skin tension for better high wind control.
The FoilFreek uses the new GRADIENT PANEL TECHNOLOGY. Corners have overlapped panels which reduces the amount of patching. At the same time these overlapped areas extend into the body of the sail so it transitions the load much better, less stretch over time. It’s a more stable way of building sails.

Sizes 4.8 to 5.6 can be rigged on a 430 RDM mast, and the 4.0 to 4.8 can be rigged on a 400. (4.8 is the crossover size, can be rigged on either)”
“Powerful and easy to control; the FoilFreek is my playful, perfect dance partner”
